Chris Moore, Friends of the Deep Sinking reminds that the next meetup of the Clonsilla & Porterstown Heritage Society (CPHS) will be a visit to St Mary’s Church, Clonsilla, on Saturday, April 1 at 11a, writes Rose Barrett.

Dating from the mid-1800s, though an ecclesiastical site going back to 500 AD, St Mary’s is a protected structure, listed as of “Regional Importance” in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage.

With a stained glass window by Evie Hone, two windows dedicated to WEHS (he of Clonsilla House fame) and a graveyard containing the many families who influenced Clonsilla, St Mary’s is an architectural gem in our community.

“A big thank you to Rev Colin McConaghie, who is hosting us,” said Chris. “The event is free and there are some places still available. If you would like to come along, please send me a private message to Friends of the Deep Sinking (Royal Canal) on FB, with your email and I will add you to the list.”

11am on Saturday, April 1 at St Mary’s Church, Clonsilla, all welcome.
