Dublin City Council is delighted to announce the much-anticipated return of the two- day Irish traditional music festival, Dublin City Council Smithfield Fleadh, this August.
This free, family-friendly outdoor summer event will take place on the 26th and 27th August from 12pm – 6pm at Smithfield Square, Dublin city centre’s largest dedicated event space.
Building on last year’s success, the programme will showcase the vibrancy of traditional Irish music in modern Ireland with internationally recognised artists to grassroots artists. Three legendary musicians, including Kevin Conneff, of The Dublin Trio will take to the stage on Saturday followed by the progressive Dublin trad band, The Bonny Men to close out the Main Stage. There will be an opportunity to learn a few steps earlier that day at the Set Dancing Workshop with Louise O’Connor. The Cobblestone Tent will return again, curated by musicians of The Cobblestone Pub in Smithfield. Sunday’s programme will be a day for dancing, with a Sean-Nós Dancing Workshop and two céilís scheduled as well as the talented and lively Pólca 4 from West Kerry bringing high energy and fun to their set.
Event information and full programme will be available to view at dublin.ie/smithfieldfleadh
