Festival in a Van will be on the road in Fingal, from Friday 18 to Saturday, August 19, writes Rose Barrett
This brings free music and spoken word performances to communities across Fingal via a fully equipped mobile performance venue showcasing singers, musicians, poets, and storytellers!
Among the artists who will perform are award-winning Balbriggan poet Tony Curtis; indie pop singer-songwriter Leila Jane; singer, actor, screenwriter, and director Esosa Ighodaro; singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin; the Fingal-based dance duo Londiwe Queens; and award-winning Skerries poet Enda Coyle-Greene; with select performances as well from members of each local community.
Over this two-day tour, the van will visit St Ita’s Resource Centre, Portrane on Friday 18 (from 11am – 12pm for locals and their families) with artists Tony Curtis, Esosa Ighodaro and Leila Jane. Also on Saturday, at Donabate Community Centre from 2.30-3.30pm – all welcome, performances from Esosa Ighodaro, Leila Jane, and local performers
On Saturday 19 at St Catherine’s Estate in Rush from 12pm – 12.40pm; at Floraville Public Park in Skerries, from 2.15–2.55pm and at Garristown village in north Fingal from 6-6.40pm. All welcome to Saturday’s events with artists Enda Coyle-Greene, Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin, Londiwe Queens, and a number of local performers will be joining in! Festival in a Van is delivered by Fingal County Council and Creative Ireland.
