Once Off Productions and Colin Murphy, in association with Pavilion Theatre, will present the United States vs Ulysses this month, writes Rachel Cunningham.
Written by Colin Murphy, the play will take place in Dún Laoghaire’s Pavilion Theatre from November 8 to 11.
The bawdy courtroom drama tells the true story of the New York trial that liberated James Joyce’s Ulysses from American censorship and made the author a household name.
Ulysses had been banned on first publication in the US and for ten years the only copies available were contraband or bootlegs until a hungry young publisher and an ambitious lawyer teamed up to challenge the ban.
Tickets are available at a cost of between €20 and €28 and can be booked on: https://www.paviliontheatre.ie/events/view/us-v-ulysses.
