Museums Now is an all-island initiative taking place on the 11th and 12th of September.
Launching Museums Now were Siobhan Stevenson, who is the Director of the Northern Ireland Museums Council with Dr Audrey Whitty, who is the chairperson of the Irish Museums Association and Head of Collections and Learning at the National Museum of Ireland.
A special programme of events that will take place in museums all over the island of Ireland over the weekend of the 11 th and 12 th of September launched at the National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks in Dublin.
The Museums Now all-island initiative is taking place to encourage visitors back into museums and celebrate their opening once again after having been closed to visitors for many months.
Museums Now is an initiative of the Irish Museums Association and the NI Museums Council, which represent over 150 museums and collection-based organisations across the island of Ireland. It is funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media Cooperation with Northern Ireland Funding Scheme.
