Saoirse Ronan has emerged as the 6/1 joint-favourite with BoyleSports to be the next Bond girl, with an announcement on a new 007 also believed to be imminent.

Four-time Oscar nominee Ronan has been capturing the imagination of Hollywood since 2007 and punters are latching on to the star joining the blockbuster franchise. Alongside Ronan at the head of the market is Marisa Abela, who plays Amy Winehouse in the biopic Back To Black, due for release this year while Jodie Comer and Michelle Keegan are also rumoured as being considered by Bond bosses.

Comer, who is a 7/1 shot for the coveted role is no stranger to playing a spy on screen, starring as hired assassin Villanelle in the hit BBC series Killing Eve and she has die-hard Bond fans thinking that she could be the perfect fit for the role.

The prospect of Michelle Keegan swapping Netlfix for MI6 is also growing legs in recent weeks after she gained global attention in Netflix’s Fool Me Once. Having spent six years playing the role of Corrie barmaid Tina McIntyre in the Rovers Return, Keegan is now a 7/1 shot from 10/1 to join James Bond on the other side of the bar while Margot Robbie doppelganger and Sex Education star Emma Mackey is 8/1.

With the role of James Bond himself also up for grabs, Paul Mescal (6/1) and Barry Keoghan (25/1) remain in the mix to don the famous tuxedo as rumours are rife that the next instalment of the series could see a younger and older Bond onscreen for the first time. Punters however are still siding with long-time 9/4 favourite Aaron Taylor-Johnson, with a steady stream of support for the Bullet Train star since he reportedly met with the Bond production team late last year.

Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “Despite there being no fixed date for the announcement of Bond 26, that hasn’t stopped punters and Bond fans speculating on what duo will join the next MI6 roster. We’ve seen plenty of support for Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal in recent days for an Irish takeover of the blockbuster franchise.”
