Coolmine Musical Society is back in action and are looking to another fabulous year ahead. A few weeks ago at the Coolmine Musical Society AGM a very special award was made to Gladys Coyle, one of the society’s long term members.

“Each year at our AGM, we award the Liam Spaine Award, in memory of a much missed member of the group who tread the boards with us over many years,” said a spokesperson for Coolmine MS..

“This year the award was given to Gladys Coyle who has been a member of Coolmine Musical Society since 1982. Her involvement with the Musical Society is much more than just performance. She has directed many Variety Shows over that time and her help, assistance and support is always on hand from Music, to Props to Costumes!

“Gladys also runs a very successful Gladys Coyle Stage School and is a long term Director of the Coolmine Panto Group. She also recently celebrated directing her 50th show in Dràiocht! What a legend. All these moments of celebrations have shown that Gladys has filled and will continue to fill the hearts of all who know her with a life full of love and creativity. A love of performance, a love of music and a love of all things theatre. Thank you, Gladys!”

It’s always a special moment at the AGM, and this year was extra special and kicked off 2024 in some style!  Coolmine MS are back in rehearsals for Spring Onto Stage which will see the talented gang from Coolmine take to the stage on Friday. April 12 and Saturday 13, nightly at 8pm. Rehearsals have just kicked off and they are thrilled to welcome Director Justin Parkes, Musical Director and Chorus Master Bryan Mullen and Choreographer Amy Ward to bring the spring and sing to the stage.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased on www.draiocht.ie or by calling Dràiocht Box Office on 01-885 2622.
