The 13th annual Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular returns to Merrion Square next week, with a spectacular line-up of street performers set to dazzle the crowds.

The festival runs over three days and showcases the best in international street performance, the world’s leading living statue artists, free family activities, delicious street food from around the world as well as a pet area with charity partner the DSPCA.

Speaking about this year’s City Spectacular, Festival Director Shell Holden said: “Celebrating 13 spectacular years, the festival will be brought to life with new programming additions and a terrific international buskers line-up.

“New to 2018 is the It’s Good to Live Stage where kids and their parents can dance, drum, jump and join in on family health classes across the two weekends in Dublin and Cork.

“The antithesis of game consoles and mobile phones, we are also unveiling a new activity within Laya Healthcare’s It’s Good to Live area dedicated to children’s imagination and a more wholesome approach to play.

“We are encouraging families to go back to basics with play and games and let their imagination run free.

“As always, everyone is welcome and all festival programming will be of the very highest quality. We think everyone who attends this year will be in for a uniquely spectacular experience.”

The festival line-up includes Sara Twister, the woman who can fire a bow and arrow from her feet while balancing upside down and Mat Ricardo, the first man in history to put the tablecloth back on a set table.

The Piano Juggler is the world’s fastest piano juggler, while Charlie Caper a world renowned and award-winning magician from Sweden will astound the crowds.

Festival-goers will also come face to face with some of the world’s leading living statue artists including world champion JOHNman, Portuguese DJs Living Statue DJs and real life cartoon Cartoonette.

Bringing their 80’s NYC street party vibe to the Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular street is Limerick based art collective, Limerockers Cru. Kids and parents can learn to pop, lock and breakdance and learn how to drop some beats which is sure to impress.

Laya Healthcare’s City Spectacular will take place from July 6 to 8 in Merrion Square from 12pm to 8pm daily.
