The Covid 19 pandemic has impacted many clubs and events over the past two years, not least among them, the celebration of Coolmine Musical Society to mark its 40th anniversary, writes Rose Barrett.
However, last weekend, the group could finally take to the stage to host “Celebrations with Coolmine Musical Society”.
The cast and production team led by director Gladys Coyle, choreographer Louise Hudson and chorus master/musical director John Dawson, had been working extremely hard over the past number of months, to bring to life, a tribute to their 40 years in existence.
With a lively repertoire including excerpts from Jesus Christ Superstar, Chess, Oklahoma, Carousel, Fiddler on the Roof, Me and My Girl, Oliver, Come From Away, Dear Evan Hanson and All Shook Up, there was something to suit all tastes and ages!

Both shows sold out, with amazing response from the audiences – which made the society’s return to the stage extra special. Thanks to all who supported them.
On both nights, a raffle was held with the proceeds being donated to the Irish Red Cross. Coolmine Musical Society was delighted with amount raised. In fact, a grand total of €1,600 was transferred since to the Irish Red Cross. Sincere thanks to all who donated so generously each night.
The society will return to Draíocht with the vivacious “9 to 5 The Musical” from Tuesday (November 8) to Saturday (November 12) 2022. You’ll have to ”Stumble out of bed” to come and see the show!!
