Well known faces and their families took to the red carpet at Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre for the opening night of Disney’s Olivier award-winning stage musical Beauty and the Beast.
Spotted on the night were Doireann Garrihy and her sister Ailbhe, Marty Whelan made it a family occasion arriving with his wife Maria as well as his son Thomas and his recently married daughter Jessica, Jennifer Zamparelli and husband Lau were accompanied by children Enzo and Florence while Kathryn Thomas and husband Padraig McLoughlin brought along their eldest daughter Ellie, also taking to the red carpet were Baz Ashmawy and partner Tanja ,Erica Cody,James Patrice, Paul Ryder, Brian Dowling and Arthur Gourounlian , Brendan O’Loughlin , Martin King and Jenny McCarthy, Tracy Clifford and Tara O’Farrell.



The beloved ‘tale as old as time’ has been brought to life on stage like never before, with members of the original creative team reuniting on the brand new production that features all of the spellbinding music and lyrics of Alan Menken,Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.

Based on the 1991 film, the first animated feature ever nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture – Beauty and the Beast first opened on Broadway in April 1994 and garnered nine Tony nominations and one win. It played for more than 13 years on Broadway closing in 2007, It remains to this day among the top 10 longest running shows in Broadway history.



The live action retelling of the animated classic quickly became the highest grossing live action film musical of all time in 2017, a record only beaten by The Lion King live action release in 2019.



Beauty and the Beast continues at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre until 8th January 2023.
