A jobs boost has been announced for the Swords area with The Wright Bar Group creating 100 jobs with the opening of two new venues.
Michael JF Wright announced the creation of the jobs following an investment of over €800,000 into two new venues by the group – Hogs and Heifers Club and Baroque Club.
The group, which has already built up a chain of nine bars and restaurants and one nightclub in Dublin over the past 18 years, currently employees over 350 people.
Hogs and Heifers Club is a 7,000 sq ft premises located on South Quarter at the Airside Retail Park. The official opening of this venture is Friday, November 29.
According to the group, Hogs and Heifers is based on refined steakhouses from the meat packers’ district in New York.
This gastro pub will use locally sourced quality dry aged cuts of meat, it will have sharing meat planks and hog on a spit.
There is also a large selection of craft beers from Ireland and around the world.
The venue’s centre piece is a large wooden island bar under a corrugated iron roof with an open plan kitchen. It has a late licence and will have live rock music.
Commenting on the announcement made earlier this week, Wright said: “Last year saw pubs closing in Ireland at the rate of one every 48 hours, yet despite these conditions the Wright Bar Group has gone from strength to strength and I am thrilled to announce our most recent expansion.
“It’s about creating something exciting for customers; we recognised a surge in demand for interesting local Irish craft beers, good local food and music and we are excited about our new ventures,” he said.
The second of the Wright Bar Group’s new ventures, Baroque Club, will be located in a secret gallery at the renowned Wright Venue, also at Airside Retail Park. This new club will open on Saturday, November 30.
Other businesses under the Wright Bar Group include the Anglers Rest, Wrights Cafe Bar and Findlater House.
