Castleknock mounted a spirited comeback but were unable to maintain their unbeaten record after facing a resilient and determined Wild Geese side at Somerton earlier this week.

Hoping to keep their place at the top of the division going into the game, hopes were high when Castleknock centre-back Barry Brennan landed a point from over 70 yards.

Castleknock tagged on a further point from Hugh Feeney before Wild Geese responded with two points of their own to leave the scores level at 0-2 apiece after 10 minutes.

Castleknock scored three unanswered points to go into a 0-5 to 0-2 lead.

A further exchange of points, with scores by Liam O’Flannagain and Thomas Maloney, left the half-time score at 0-7 to 0-5.

The second half began with Castleknock on the attack, but it was Wild Geese who took a grip of the game and landed three unanswered points to lead by 0-8 to 0-7.

The game then turned on a go
