Women’s ail: Blackrock College continued their winning start to the season as they followed up last weekend’s win at Wicklow with a six-try, 40-7 victory over Cooke in the second round of the new Energia Women’s AIL campaign.
Tries from captain Michelle Claffey (2), Anna Doyle (2), Maeve Liston and Méabh Deely saw the Stradbrook Road outfit secure another maximum to leave them sitting one point clear of Old Belvedere at the top of the table. Belvo were convincing winners away to newcomers Ballincollig with Clare Gorman (4) and Deirbhile Nic a Bhaird (3) amongst the try scorers, new signing Dannah O’Brien contributing 10 conversions.
Railway Union got their season off to a successful start with a bonus point 24-5 win away to UL Bohemians whilst Suttonians recovered from a 17-point halftime deficit to share the spoils with Galwegians in a 10-try, 31-31 draw at Station Road.
