Wayside Celtic lead the way in Senior Sunday thanks to a statement win away to Killester Donnycarney on Sunday.

The Jackson Park side managed to score five at Hayden Park to secure the three points that make them very early Intermediate top flight front runners.

Celtic were two to the good going into injury time of the first half before thanks to a Luke Clucas double, although Rob Dunne’s finish saw the home side get within one before the turn.

Dylan O’Connor restored the two-goal cushion with Cian Fay and Tom Hanlon following him onto the score sheet as Celtic wrapped up the points- Dean Kelly managed consolation late on for Killester.

The win moves Wayside a point clear of reigning champions St Mochtas at the top of the table, albeit the early leaders have a game in hand.

The Saints maintained their 100 percent start despite being handed a late scare by Liffey Wanderers. A finish from Luke McWilliams and a brace from Mikey Scott saw the home side go three to the good in the first half.  Two late Caleb Gyasi strikesset up a tense finish.

However the inner city side couldn’t find an injury-time leveller, meaning Brian McCarthy’s men are two for two at this early stage.

Newly promoted Killbarack United are third, just goal difference ahead of Lucan United, the team they drew away to on Sunday.

Luke Walsh and Mark Byrne were on the scoresheet for Lucan, while Clayton Maher and Darren Byrne found the net for the visitors.

Tyrick Reilly and Jake Hyland scored a goal apiece as Tokla Rovers beat St Francis in a battle of promoted sides to get their first three points of the season.

Bangor Celtic opened their season with an impressive three-goal win away to Maynooth University Town.
