It was a mix of rain and sunshine as 22,500 participants took part in this years Irish Life Dublin City Marathon this morning. In it’s 42nd year it is the fourth largest marathon event in Europe.

Ethiopia’s Kemal Husen has been crowned men’s champion of the Dublin Marathon. Husen broke the course record, completing the 42-kilometre track in just 2 hours 6 minutes and 52 seconds. Sorome Negash of Ethiopia was the first woman across the line, at 2hours, 25 minutes and 22 seconds.


Irelands Stephen Scullion crossed the finish line third overall, best of the Irish in 2 hours, 11 minutes and 51 seconds. Ann Marie McGlynn was the best of the Irish woman, running a time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 13.


In the wheelchair race, Ireland’s Patrick Monaghan won for a seventh time, finishing in 1 hour 41 minutes and 4 seconds, he will be also taking part in next weeks New York Marathon.
