A four-midable second half showing saw Killester Donnycarney into the Metropolitian Cup semi-finals.

Killester started to slip on the very obvious banana skin that was Usher Celtic in Hadden Park last weekend but eventually found their feet to win a quarter-final of two halves.

Gary Howlett’s men went in a goal down to the Senior 1 Sunday league leaders at the turn but turned on the style in the second half to score four and eventually win with room to spare.

Irish amateur international Gary Gannon gave Celtic a half time lead when he fired a clever cut back into the roof of the net from 12 yards.

However, the hosts were a lot less welcoming after the break and found their scoring boots to secure the win.

Player of the Month for January Robert Dunne brought his form into February with two finishes, one from the spot, while debutant Alex Sheridan scored his first goal for the club and Robert Kilkenny added the other.

Inchicore Athletic secured their place in the final four of the premium Leinster Senior League Cup contest on Friday night.

The LSL Senior 1A high flyers knocked top-flight team Bangor Celtic out at the quarter-final stage. ‘Core thought they had done enough to do it in normal time, but Celtic’s seventh minute injury time leveller forced extra time. After neither side could secure a winner penalties followed and Inchicore claimed 5-4 victory in sudden death.

The results mean Inchicore and Killester join a form Malahide United and Intermediate Cup semi-finalists Wayside in the semi-final hat.
