The Fingals native continued his massive fight back from a 0-2 fighter with well-documented personal problems with another impressive win at the 3Arena on Saturday night.

Kelly defeated Jose Sanchez courtesy of a ninja choke submission on the Bellator Champions Series 3 card to make it 11 wins on the bounce.

Take into account the first-round submission was his ninth finish in that run and ‘The Great’ has as much momentum as any fighter in MMA.

The fighter, who was delighted to register another win in front a growing and partisan following, now wants to use that momentum to launch a march for a million dollars.

Albeit in quiet calm fashion, the fighting pride of the Northside let it be known he wants in on the PFL’s one-million-dollar tournament next year.

“I’m all for that. I’m ready to do it,” he said post the win.

“I feel like I have good momentum, I have to chat with the lads, but thats somewhere I’d like to be next year so fingers crossed we can get that done.”

Competing in the tournament and winning such an amount would be huge for Kelly, but there is a sense his career is about more than just money.

Having come through a rough period the John Kavanagh-trained Dub has managed to win the love and respect of fans – and he feels there is a role model element to what he is doing.

“I just think it’s because I’m real,” he responds when asked about the massive reception he received on Saturday.

” I’m a real person who has experienced high highs and low lows. I think because I’m so open about my lows people have that human connection with me. They know I’m not some big shot pretending to be someone I’m not. I’m as real as they come, probably too open at times but I think they respect that and respect me. I’m trying to be an example for people in working class areas and show you can be at the bottom and make it to the top by being true to yourself and bettering yourself.”
