Women’s National League – Galway WFC 3 – Bohemians 1

BOHEMIANS fell to their first defeat of the Women’s National League season as they came unstuck 3-1 against Galway WFC at Eamonn Deacy Park.

The hosts’ Rachel Kearns continued where she left off with last-week’s hat-trick gainst Cork by opening the scoring on the half-hour mark, a tap-in following a clash between Bohemian’s goalkeeper and defender Jade Reddy.

Five minutes later, 17-year old Kate Slevin hit an accurate long-range shot to the net following another misunderstanding in the Bohemian defence.

And it was three when Lynsey McKey, running on to a free-kick, hit home from close range to the Bohemian net on 58 minutes.

Chloe Darby got one back from a free-kick near the left corner on 70 minutes, bringing the score back to 3-1.

And she Darby went close again in the closing minutes from a free kick following a foul which saw Galway midfielder Chloe Singleton shown the red card.

This time however, goalkeeper Maja Zajc tipped the dipping ball over the crossbar. Bohemian’s next match is at home to Cork City on Saturday, April 17 in the Oscar Traynor  complex.
