Naas 1

There was double debut delight for Joe Hall as he helped fire Beechwood into the second round of the Polikoff Cup on Sunday.

The new signing bagged a brace, which included a beautifully finished volley, as he helped the Major Sunday 1 side progress past Naas in the Leinster Senior League Saturday competition.

Jack Lyons and Sean Millar also found passage onto the score sheet in the 4-1 win.

Like Hall, Connor Green was a first round two goal hero, scoring twice for Raheny as they strolled through ‘The Gate’ into Round 2.

The LSL Major I Sunday side put five past St James Gate with Luke Hempenstall, Andrew Duffy and Luke Corrigan also finding the net in the one sided cup clash.

Panch Murphy also got in on the double act with a well taken brace as Baldoyle United knocked Ballbriggan out of the competition in a game where Cian Lesson added to his season tally.

Gavin Greene scored twice in a 4-0 win for Ballyouster over Clondalkin Celtic in the same competition while the first round also played host to a whopping 10-0 win for St Ita’s over Liffey Bank.

Shane Brothers, Craig Hennessy and Darragh McDonagh shared the scoring equally as LSL new boys Newlane came out the right side of an exciting five-goal thriller with Edenderry FC.

Enniskerry YC defeated Tallaght outfit Newtown Rangers by the odd goal in three, Mount Merrion progressed past Tullamor and Ciaran Whelan was among the scorers for Trinty Donaghmeade in a three goal win over Cabinteely just days before he ran the Dublin Marathon.
