Irish sailing Olympic silver medallist and Dun Laoghaire native, Annalise Murphy, was on hand to launch the Davy Junior Regatta at the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire. Over 150 junior sailors will compete in the one-day event in Dun Laoghaire on Wednesday, 24th July.
Davy’s title sponsorship of Junior Regatta at the National Yacht Club is part of an overall partnership with the Club in Dun Laoghaire which also saw the brand support The Davy National Yacht Club Regatta in 2018.
Speaking at the announcement, Emma Dixon, Events and Sponsorship Manager Davy Group said: “At Davy, we are committed to delivering world class outcomes for our clients. But it’s not just business, it’s personal and we pride ourselves on supporting events and interests our clients are passionate about through our sponsorships.
With its long and rich history, the National Yacht Club is a vibrant hub of family sailing with its members competing at the highest levels of international sailing competition.
“We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Davy Junior Regatta at the National Yacht Club and to have Annalise here today to help us inspire and support the next generation of sailors and maybe even Olympians of the future! We would like to wish everyone taking part on July 24th, the very best of luck for what I’m sure will be a fantastic event.”
Davy’s sponsorship of the Junior Regatta at the National Yacht Club adds to its growing portfolio of sponsorships that includes ‘Innovation Partner’ to the National Concert Hall, and support of Irish golfers, Leona and Lisa Maguire and Paul Dunne.
Annalise Murphy, Davy ambassador, commented: “It’s great to be involved in the launch of this year’s Davy Junior Regatta, particularly as it is here at my own club where I spent my days as a junior competitor. It is extremely encouraging to see the interest and participation levels grow as Davy’s continue to support the event which showcases the talents of some of the country’s brightest junior sailors. Best of luck to all of those involved in what promises to be a brilliant competition.”
Speaking at the announcement, Martin McCarthy, National Yacht Club Commodore, commented: “We are proud to host over 100 entrants in this year’s Davy Junior Regatta at the National Yacht Club. The event is an excellent opportunity for young sailors to demonstrate and hone their skills, in a social and relaxing environment. It’s great to have our own Annalise Murphy on board to mark the launch of this year’s event as she is a true role model for those participating in next week’s competition.
“We’re grateful for Davy’s support in bringing the event to life and their continued commitment to raising the profile of sailing through their sponsorship of the Davy Junior Regatta and their partnership with the National Yacht Club.”
