De La Salle Palmerston FC were presented with the Leinster League Division 2A trophy last Sunday in front of their supporters at Kirwan Park having copper-fastened their automatic promotion to Division 1B for next season.

The Kilternan outfit wrapped up the title several weeks ago with three games to spare, having established an unassailable 15-point lead over nearest challengers Clondalkin following a winning streak that extended to 11 games.

Last Sunday’s 35-23 win over Coolmine in the penultimate round of fixtures extended Salmo’s lead at the top of the table to a massive 20 match points with 10 try-bonus points testament to the exciting brand of rugby being played by the team this season.
