As the countdown to the 2021 Tokyo Games commence flashes from weeks to days to hours, Ireland’s athletes have completed their final preparation and it is a case of ‘Games On’ as they wait to perform to a global audience.
For St Mary’s Tallaght boxing representative Kellie Harrington and for her district it will be a particularly proud Olympics as she has been chosen to carry the tricolour at the head of the Ireland athletic representatives at the official opening of the games in Tokyo this Friday night.
Before they flew out to Japan, Sport Ireland Campus hosted a number of our Dublin based athletes from a multitude of sports including Nhat Nguyen, who will be competing in the Badminton Men’s Singles, Paralympic Swimmer, Ellen Keane and Ireland women’s hockey team members Chloe Watkins and Deirdre Duke.
Others to use the top class Dublin facilities in Blanchardstown included Olympic veteran and modern pentathlete, Natalya Coyle, Paralympic swimmer Nicole Turner, gymnast Rhys McClenaghan and the Ireland Men’s Rugby Sevens team.
