Golf Ireland High Performance Director Neil Manchip says Ireland have every chance of bringing home silverware as they begin their European Team Championships campaign in four different countries.

The European Amateur Team Championship takes place at Royal Waterloo in Belgium while Tawast Golf & Country Club (Finland) hosts the European Ladies’ Team Championship. The European Boy’s Team Championship is in Golf Club of Geneva, Switzerald with Hossegor Golf Club welcoming the European Girls’ Team Championship to France.

Max Kennedy (Royal Dublin), Alex Maguire (Laytown & Bettystown), Matt McClean (Malone), Liam Nolan (Galway), Mark Power (Kilkenny) and Caolan Rafferty (Dundalk) form the Men’s team.

Sara Byrne (Douglas), Beth Coulter (Kirkistown Castle), Anna Foster (Elm Park), Kate Lanigan (Hermitage) and Jessica Ross (Clandeboye) join the recently called up Mairead Martin (Kanturk) in the Women’s Team.

Aodhagan Brady (Co. Sligo), Fionn Dobbin (Malone), Mark Gazi (Tralee), Sean Keeling (Roganstown), Jack Murphy (Douglas) and Gavin Tiernan (Co. Louth) are the Boys’ selection.

Anna Abom (Edmondstown), Olivia Costello (Roscommon), Kate Dillon (Oughterard), Emma Fleming (Elm Park), Marina Joyce Moreno (Llavaneras) and Katie Poots (Knock) make up the Girls’ team.

And Manchip, who is in France with the Girls’ team this week, says he has high hopes for all of the groups.

“After a busy start to the summer the four teams representing Ireland find themselves in good position to take on the best of Europe,” he said.

“The team captains will be keen to get off to a fast start this morning and get their campaigns underway. We have some fantastic teams gone away this year and all of the players are in great form.

“This is my 23rd European Team Championship and looking at the teams and they are a super group to be taking away. We are very ambitious about this week, and rightly so with the teams we have so hopefully we can bring back some trophies.”
