Dublin v Laois
Saturday, 6.30pm, Parnell Park
Templeogue have won the InsureMyVan.ie Men’s U20 National League Plate final, defeating Sligo All-Stars 82-67 at the National Basketball Arena.
Dublin will look to hit the ground running when they host Laois in their Leinster Senior Hurling Championship opener at Parnell Park on Saturday.
Recent harsh lessons should ensure that complacency shouldn’t be an issue for Mattie Kenny’s side and former Dublin U–21 manager Seán Lane is optimistic that the Dubs will have the correct attitude and focus at the weekend.
“First and foremost, Dublin have to win on Saturday and I would imagine that their mindset will be completely directed at claiming two points on the night and taking it from there,” Lane told the Irish Independent.

“Of course, they have plenty more matches to play in the coming weeks but it’s dangerous to look too far ahead and it’s important that they take each challenge as it comes.
“Realistically, that are four counties competing for three qualifying spots and I hope I’m not being too disrespectful to Laois and Westmeath in saying that but I would imagine the ambitions of those two counties would be different to those of Dublin, Wexford, Galway and Kilkenny.
“Having said that, we all know what happened back in 2019 when Laois beat Dublin down in Portlaoise, and deservedly so, so it would be foolish to underestimate them.”
