Swords Rounders club, set up in spring 2022 to cater for boys and girls in the Swords area who wanted to play GAA Rounders, have broken new ground.

The club are a Rounders only club and have members who play Gaelic football and hurling in four local clubs in north Dublin.

Swords’ U12 boys’ teams topped their regional Dublin group in the championship beating Na Fianna, Kevin’s and Castleknock.

Due to a team dropping out of another group, we did not have a semi-final and got a bye to the final by way of a draw.

The knockout stage games in U12 boys and girls were played on June 17 in Trintiy Sports grounds in Santry and Emo of Laois defeated Michael Glaveys of Roscommon in the semifinal putting them into the final against Swords.

Emo have won the U12 trophy the past two years in a row and started the stronger of the two teams.

Swords were losing 7-2 after two innings and shows great determination to come back into the game to win the four innings game 9-7.
