  • Finglas United – 2
  • Ballyfermot United – 1

Finglas United made it a sensational seven on the spin last Sunday.

The north side outfit are on the promotion charge thanks to a 100 percent 2023 record.

Their latest win came against fellow division upgrade hopefuls Ballyfermot and by virtue of a brilliant first-half display.

Ross Buckley and  Troy Owens ensured the home side’s first half-dominance didn’t go to waste, both finding the net to give United a two-goal lead at halftime.

It was a cushion they needed as it made sure Henderson’s strike for ‘Ballyer’ after the turn was just consolation, as Finglas eventually won by the odd goal in three.

The win means Finglas have won all seven of their league games this year, are unbeaten in eight and haven’t lost since Ballyfermot beat them in November.

It also means there is a three-goes-into-five scenario at the top of the Leinster Senior League Intermediate fourth tier. Despite their form, Finglas are fifth 10 points off Kilmore Celtic and five points of Ballyfermot in third, with Rush Athletic and Oliver Bond occupying second and fourth respectively.

All their promotion rivals bar  Oliver Bond, who lost away to Drogheda also registered wins over the weekend.

Dylan Kelly was on the double as Rush Athletic won away to Tullamore on Sunday.

Daryl Curly also hit a brace as league leaders Kilmore Celtic beat TEK away from home to go three points clear at the top of a very interesting title and promotion race, Colm Carney was also on the score sheet in that game.
