Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club (DSD AC) have announced details of the first ever DSD Games, supported by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, which will take place at the new DSD multi-sport campus at Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin on Sunday 18th June.
Details of the event were announced at a launch photoshoot with the event’s official ambassadors – hurdler and future Olympic prospect Kate Doherty and former Olympian David Gillick. Also in attendance was Mary Hanafin, Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
Entries for the event open today, Thursday , May 18, via the Athletics Ireland website (athleticsireland.ie)
The DSD Games are a brand-new addition to the national athletics calendar and are hosted by Dundrum South Dublin AC (DSDAC), one of Ireland’s largest athletics clubs. The new event marks the opening of DSD AC’s new World Athletics certified 400m track and campus at Rathfarnham, Co. Dublin (near Marlay Park).

The Athletics Ireland licensed competition will feature a full programme of Sprint, Hurdles, Middle Distance and Field events, including five marquee events: 100m; 100m hurdles (women) / 110m hurdles (men); 1500m; Shot Put and Long Jump. Cash prizes will be offered for these events.
The DSD Games is a Category F World Athletics event, with athletes who compete gaining valuable ranking points towards qualification for the World Championships later this year and the Olympics. It is anticipated that the event will attract a field of 500 entrants, including athletes who compete on the International stage.
Declan Ryan, chairman of Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club: “We’re very excited to showcase our stunning new state-of-the-art multi-sport campus at the first DSD Games. This will be our first meet at our new home, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone here on June 18.”
