Drimnagh Castle’s talented group of U17 soccer players capped off a remarkable season lost Friday by defeating CBS Enniscorthy in a dramatic peno shoot out to become champions of Leinster.

This was their thirrd trophy of the season as they had previously won the South Dublin league and the week previous had been crowned champions of Dublin.

The game itself was an end to end affair that finished 2 2 after extra time.  Enniscorthy took an early lead but were pegged back by a fabulous solo goal by the outstanding Rhys Brennan. They also went 2 1 down only for Ben Rossiter to power home a header from an excellent Alex Fallon corner.

Drimnagh had a couple of late chances to win with both Darragh emmet and Brennan going close to grabbing the winner.

The peno shootout finished 5 4 to Drimnagh with Callum bridgeman, Alex fallon, Paddy Doolan, Ben rossiter all calmly slotting home.

It was left to Jack Seery to score the winning peno with an emphatic finish that sent the travelling Drimnagh supporters into raptures.

This is the fourth time Drimnagh Castle have won this prestigious trophy and is the second time in six years they have won the treble at U17 level.
