Dave Scully injury

FAI CEO Jonathan Hill was among those quick to offer their support to former Bohemians, Bray Wanderers and Finn Harps star David Scully who suffered an horrific leg break while in action for MPFC on Sunday.

Scully was expected to go in for surgery on Monday morning after suffering the injury in the club’s first league game of the season.

Posting a picture of his injury on social media, Scully wrote: “I broke my leg in 2 places today playing for MPFC in our first LSLLeague  of the season… hopefully get the operation soon as possible and would like to thank every club, managers, coaches & players I’ve played with over the years. It was my life & it’s sad it has end this way.”

Responding on Twitter, new FAI CEO Hill wrote: “Best of luck for a swift recovery Dave and whatever happens hopefully this is just the start of the next phase of your footballing life.

“We need players to stay in the game as coaches, refs, administrators etc – not for everyone I know but it will help keep the game going!”
