Where would Leinster Schools Rugby be without Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club?

This is the tongue-in-cheek question posed by Felix O’Regan, PRO with the Dublin 4 GAA club, when referring to the fact that no less than eight players from Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA will likely be part of the match day panels for the St Patrick’s Day Leinster Senior Schools Rugby Cup final (Gonzaga College v St. Michaels College).

A number of other Clanna Gael Fontenoy players are involved in the wider squads.

“It’s a clear sign of the talent and versatility of young players today that many of them can and do play a number of sports at the highest level, as well as the complementary nature of these sports”, states O’Regan.

“Moreover, a number of these players are involved in Dublin under-age football and hurling squads, having already won a Dublin U16 football championship with their club in 2017.”

“We wish all of our players well in the final on March 17; and, whatever the eventual outcome, we can be certain to see a few Leinster Schools Rugby winners’ medals around Clanna Gael Fontenoy alongside our various silverware.

“Win or lose, we look forward to seeing all the lads back in action again shortly in Sean Moore Park”, says O’Regan.
