The Bluebell United pro production line went into overdrive over the weekend, as two more ‘Bell players secured pro contracts.
Noeem Ade and Colm Carney benefited from their former manager Shane ‘Mario’ Dolan and the Leinster Senior League side’s relationships with Glenavon and will play Irish League Football over the coming weeks and months.
The attacker and the center-forward become the second and third Bluebell players to follow a trail north this transfer window and the fourth from the club to make the exact same move in recent years.
Top goal scorer for the Red Cow side last year Sodiq Oguntola joined the Irish League side earlier this summer, whilst Josh Doyle has played 27 times, scoring three times for the club, including a goal of the season strike, since trading the Bluebell crest for the badge of the ‘Luegan Blues’ in January of 2021.
Glentoran manager Gary Hamilton is one that always keeps an eye on the Leinster Senior League and the top end of Irish amateur football. He brought former Crumlin United frontman Greg Moorehouse, who now plies his trade for Warrenpoint and came very close to signing for Coventry City after scoring 13 goals in his first season for Glenavon, to the club in 2018.
The Red Cow has proved a pit stop for a number of footballers who went on to have solid pro careers and the pair join the likes of Brandon Miele, Richie Towell, Kieth Fahey, Izzy Akinade and Dean Ebbe as former Bluebell players to play pro ball.
There were not just outgoing for a side that is now managed by Willie Nicholson, there are also a few new players through the
United gate.
One very familiar face comes home with former amateur International and regular ‘Bell goal scorer Shane Stritch returning from Edenderry.
Former Shamrock Rovers Under-19 Nathan Benson and Crumlin United league winning centre half Jamie Geoghan have signed for the FAI Intermediate finalists, as have Mikey Quinn, Noel Clarke and James O’Brien.
