In a year where everyone spent more time at home than ever, we’ve all found ourselves turning to Youtube to help us pass the time.

Now, the video sharing platform have revealed the annual list of Ireland’s top trending videos for the past year, letting us see what exactly caught the nation’s attention throughout lockdown, from home improvement videos to lighthearted laughs.

Topping the list for 2020 in Ireland is ’60 Days Build Millionaire Underground Swimming Pool House’ from the creator Mr. Tfue, who shows how to build an impressive swimming pool in just 60 days.

The list also features an update video from Colin Furze in Backyard Underground Bunker Tour/Update on the fully functioning home bunker he built in his garden five years ago.

The second most popular video of the year was an emotional video from This Morning, where Phillip Schofield opened up about being gay. In the clip from the show, presenter Philip Schofield speaks for the first time about being gay in a chat with co-presenter Holly Willoughby.

In a year when laughs were much needed, Irish comedy stars Foil, Arms and Hog’s timely ‘Quarantine Maths Disaster’ showed the perils of online classes and was one of the most watched videos in Ireland this year.

The Graham Norton show also provided some laughs with Lee Mack’s infamous ‘Kent’ joke leaving John Cleese in near tears. Ant and Dec go undercover on The Chase for Saturday Night Takeaway to play the ultimate prank on Bradley Walsh was also a top watch in Ireland this year.

The rise of the content creator shows no signs of stopping with several entries on the list from high profile YouTube creators. American creator MrBeast is known for his stunts and in Anything You Can Fit In The Circle I’ll Pay For he combines his love of philanthropy and stunts as he makes a number of surprising charitable donations.

Sidemen, a group of British YouTube creators, and their reunion after lockdown as the fifth most popular video in Ireland this year. Closing out this years list is Dutch YouTube beauty vlogger Nikkie Tutorials, who revealed that she’s transgender in the emotional I’m Coming Out.
