The go-ahead has been given for the development of a new stand at Tallaght Stadium following a council meeting on Monday night.
An additional stand at the stadium is expected to increase the overall capacity to 10,500 people, which will open the South Dublin stadium up to hosting more games.
It will also mean that there will be potential for concerts to be held at the venue following completion of the development, which is expected to be in 2022.
The decision was made at the October meeting of South Dublin County Council. In addition to increasing the capacity of the stadium, the new stand will also host a Changing Places facility.
