Three-year-old boy pronounced dead on the scene after fatal stabbing in South Dublin

Gardai are investigating the homicide of a three-year-old boy that occurred at approximately 7p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017.

Emergency services were called to the Riverside Apartment complex in the Poddle Park area of Kimmage on Monday evening.

The infant was pronounced dead upon Gardai arrival.

An Iranian woman in her 40’s, believed to be a relative of the boy, suffered “serious” knife wounds and is being treated at St. James’ Hospital.

A garda spokesperson said: “The State Pathologist has been notified and the Garda Technical Bureau has been requested to examine the scene. The scene is currently preserved.”

“An incident room has been established at Crumlin Garda Station.”

A number of tributes and condolence cards are being left by neighbours this morning.
