Swords nursing home shares heartwarming video of dancing residents

A Swords nursing home received a special visit from some musical members of An Garda Siochana last week, with a heart warming video of the appearance being shared across Facebook.

Three members of the An Garda Siochana band paid a visit to Swords Nursing Home to play some classic tunes for the residents, including a funky rendition of the Tony Christie hit Amarillo.

Mowlam Healthcare, the healthcare provider behind the home, shared a video of two of their residents having a boogie to the band on Facebook last week, in a video that has warmed the hearts of thousands.

In the caption of the video, Mowlam Healthcare said: “Hold on to your heart strings – Swords Nursing Home residents were overjoyed with the visit of three lovely gentlemen An Garda Síochána Garda Band playing music for their pleasure.

“How could our two James resist joining in with some super smooth dancing. Just the best!”

The video was widely shared on Facebook, with over 1,500 people reposting the video to their pages. Over 300 people shared supportive, positive comments on the video as well, remarking just how lovely the moment captured was.

“This is brilliant, it’s great to see the two men enjoying the music. Fair play Gardai,” one comment read, while multiple others said how the uplifting video had made their day.

Others recalled how the video reminded them of the Garda band visiting their own relatives in other nursing homes across the county over the years, and the joy it brought to residents.
