Garda station could reopen

REOPENING Stepaside Garda Station may be a possibility, sources have revealed to The Gazette.
With ongoing talks taking place in the process of forming a government, Independent TD for Dublin Rathdown, Shane Ross told The Gazette that re-opening Stepaside Garda Station has been “put on the table”.
The station closed in March, 2013, despite strong opposition from local residents and politicians who maintain that crime has risen in the area since the closure.
Deputy Ross said: “I raised this issue in the talks in the context of re-opening garda stations nationwide, and I specifically raised the issue of Stepaside Garda Station.
“Independent Alliance are fully behind nationwide re-openings of stations that meet certain criteria, and we are awaiting a positive response. I’m hopeful we will be able to push further as talks proceed.”
