The owners of the Centra store in Barnhill Road, Dalkey which was the target of a burglary this past Tuesday evening has published a statement.Three men entered the shop at approximately 9:20pm and robbed the store before leaving in a getaway car.
The men then proceeded to hit two women out for a walk wit the car and killing one – recently identified as Jackie McGovern, 54, a mother of three and a special needs assistant at Our Lady of Good Counsel girls school.
In the statement, the owners of the shop said it closed the store on Wednesday as a mark of respect.
The statement read: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the families involved.
“All the members of staff at the shop are deeply shocked and we are trying to come to terms with this tragedy.
“We thank the local community for the support and understanding they have shown to us today.
“As last night’s incident is now part of a Garda investigation, we are not participating in any interviews or making any further statements.”
