[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]There’s a warning to be extra vigilant while out Christmas shopping after money was robbed out of a woman’s handbag at a local shopping centre.

A post on ‘Dublin 14 and 16 Burglaries’ Facebook page warned others about an incident at Nutgrove Shopping Centre where a woman was distressed after cash was robbed out of her bag.

An Garda Síochánaha recommend the following to protect yourself.

1. Take care when carrying your handbag, smart phone or tablet in crowded areas. Keep them in a safe location, within view.

2. Watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas. Keep handbags zipped and don’t put your wallet in your back pocket. In bars and restaurants take care about where you store coats and handbags.

3. At ATMs only take out as much money as you need. Cover your pin number and call the Gardaí if you believe the machine has been compromised.

4. Take care of your Christmas Shopping and never leave it unattended, especially in your car.

5. Park and lock your car in secure, well-lit areas keeping valuables including bags and coats hidden.
