A table quiz and auction are being organised to fundraise for the campaign against development proposals at Bulloch Harbour.
Last Wednesday, a public meeting was held by Bulloch Harbour Preservation Association (BHPA) where locals, TDS, councillors, public figures including Pat and Cathy Kenny, and community groups gathered at Fitzpatrick’s Castle Hotel in Killiney.
Earlier this year, the controversial development got the green light from An Bord Pleanala for three three-storey houses, two apartments, a cafe and a number of other buildings.
There has been anger among some locals, who feel the proposals don’t fit in with the landscape of the surrounding area, and there are also concerns about “vicious” flooding.
BHPA would like to see the site at Bulloch Harbour developed as a facility for a Community Marine Centre for the community.
Chairperson of BHPA, Dr. Susan Mc Donnell, explained to the locals at the meeting that in the High Court on October 14, Mr. Justice Noonan gave BHPA leave to challenge An Bord Planala’s decision to grant planning permission for the site.
The date of December 3rd has been set ‘for mention’ in the High Court, by which date both parties’ submissions have to be before the court. A Judge will be appointed then for the hearing, which will take place in 2020.
The campaign for a Judicial Review will incur major costs and that the association are looking to raise €30,000.
BHPA will hold a fundraising Table Quiz will take place on November 30th in the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in Killiney at 8pm.
The group are looking for volunteers to help with the table quiz and are also looking for raffle donations.
