Annalise shows her medal

Celebrations are underway from Rathfarnham to Dun Laoghaire as our very own Annalise Murphy took home a silver medal for Ireland.
Members of Annalise’s home club, the National Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire, gathered in the club to cheer their Olympic hero on in Rio.
Annalise has been sailing at the club since she was a child, following in the footsteps of her mother Cathy, who competed in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
“We’ve no nails left,” one supporter told RTE ahead of her heroic effort in the laser radial medal race on Tuesday night.
“I think Annalise is a very strong character, determined and focused – she knows what she has to do.”
After she finished in second position a club member said: “She sailed so well and it’s a such an reward for all her efforts especially after the heartbreak of London 2012.”
Another said: “My heart was in my mouth for the last leg but we now have an Olympian in the club which is brilliant!”
