Locals are said to be up in arms about “noise disruption” coming from “boozy, theme park type events” in local Dundrum venue, Airfield Estate.
Best Parties Ever are hosting a Christmas extravaganza at Airfield Estate. Local area representative for Dundrum Anna Grainger (FG) said locals are bracing themselves for a “Christmas of discontent”.
She said: “Airfield Estate plan to run a series of boozy, theme park type events in the weeks prior to Christmas, commencing at 6.45pm till 1am, however, you won’t find it anywhere on their website.
“Holywell Residents Association (HRA) have already experienced noise disruption throughout the summer this year and by chance found out about these planned events.
“HRA have objected to all Airfield licences, which is set for mention on January 16 next. In relation to Airfield’s Occasional Licence, a specific licence required for these series of events prior to Christmas, we have negotiated and agreed conditions which have been made part of the Noise Management Plan. However, it will be a case of ‘suck it and see’ scenario as the Judge exclaimed.”
Airfield Estate Management said: “Best Parties Ever have been planning for Christmas events at Airfield Estate since early 2018. They are highly experienced in running these type of events, are committed to abiding by all legal and licencing requirements, as well as respecting Airfields physical environment.
“We will continue to monitor the events at Best Parties Ever to ensure all agreements are adhered to and that any local issues are addressed without delay by the event company.”
