Eurovision legend Shay Healy laid to rest

A galaxy of stars turned out to give former Eurovision songwriting winner Shay Healy a special send off in Dublin this week.

Among the mourners was his former RTE cameraman colleague John McColgan of Riverdance fame, and singers Paul Bray and Twink.

Shay, who suffered from Parkinson’s disease for 17 years, died aged 78  at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin, last Friday.

The broadcaster, songwriter, playwright and entertainer was predeceased by his wife Dymphna and is survived by his two sons Oisín and Fionán. 

He was interred on Tuesday afternoon at Mount Jerome, Harold’s Cross in a private  service  which was streamed online.
