Gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in the North Strand area of the city this morning have arrested a man in his 40s.

Gardai confirmed that the 45-year-old man was arrested this morning and is currently detained at Mountjoy Garda Station under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

A 45-year-old man was killed in this morning’s incident, which took place at Clinch’s Court, just off the North Strand. He was brought to the Mater Hospital, but later died from his injuries.

A second man who was also in his mid 40s was also injured in the incident and removed to St. James Hospital, where he is currently being treated.

A post mortem is due to take place later today by Dr. Margaret Bolster, State Pathologist.

The scene remains preserved and the technical bureau are currently at scene.
