Capital Credit Union has presented a cheque for €10,000 to Our Lady of Good Counsel Boys National School in Drimnagh, to enable the school to invest in new technology for its students.
The donation is part of Capital Credit Union’s wider commitment to the local community and the economic and social wellbeing of its 5,000 members in the area.
Our Lady of Good Counsel BNS approached Capital Credit Union earlier in the year, after it was selected as one of only 20 primary schools in the country to participate in a pilot programme for the Digital Learning Framework.
The school realised the best way to fund the required equipment was to form a partnership with a likeminded community organisation, and got in touch with Capital Credit Union.
Addressing the recent cheque presentation ceremony, Gerry McConville, CEO Capital Credit Union said: “We are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause. We all know how important technology has become in our daily lives. It’s essential that children are taught how to embrace it from an early age so they can realise their full potential.
“We look forward to continue working with Our Lady of Good Counsel BNS and assisting them wherever possible.”
In response, Aidan Knight, Principal Our Lady of Good Counsel BNS had this to say: “On behalf of our school, pupils and staff and all involved with Our Lady of Good Counsel Boys, I would like to thank Capital Credit Union for their very generous contribution.
“I can see this being the start of a very fruitful relationship. They share our values and do great work in the local community.”
