Dublin rockers Fontaines D.C had reason to celebrate this week, as their latest album ‘A Hero’s Death’ was nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards.
Nominations for the 2021 Grammy’s were announced in a live stream on Tuesday night, with the Dublin quintet snagging a nomination for the album, which was released in July of this year.
Also nominated in the Best Rock Album category are The Strokes, Sturgill Simpson, Grace Potter and Michael Kiwanuka.
‘A Hero’s Death’ is the follow up to Fontaines D.C’s critically acclaimed 2017 debut Dogrel, and was well received by critics and fans alike.
The band remarked on their win with a tweet, showing the members on a video chat celebrating the news.
Fontaines D.C are making waves in the US. The band were scheduled to make an appearance at the Coachella music festival in California earlier this year, before it was cancelled due to Covid-19.
The 2021 Grammy Award ceremony is expected to take place on January 31 2021, though it is not yet known whether the ceremony will take place virtually or not.
