DublinBikes just got more convenient, as real-time information on the bikes has been added to the Google Maps app.
This new addition to the app will allow users to be able to locate DublinBike stations, know how many bikes are available and how many vacant spots are at each one.
With having this information all on one app will make it easier for users to use throughout the city during busier times.
Anyone in the Dublin area who uses Google Maps will be able to locate all bikeshare stations around them, along with tapping the station to see how many bikes are available.
It will be able to tell how many vacant spots are left for when users want to return a bike. Once located, the user can get step by step directions to the bike station.
Google Maps app users can use this feature today on Android and IOS.
Along with Dublin, Google launched this feature to 24 cities in 16 countries with bikeshare stations. The past year, the real-time information for bikeshare has been available in New York City.
The new features stems from a partnership with Ito World, a company that solves transportation challenges through real-time information data collecting.
Biksharing has become popular in Dublin and all over the world with 18 millions bikes being shared worldwide in urban areas.
The new feature will be available in Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Chicago, Dublin, Hamburg, Helsinki, Kaohsiung, London, Los Angeles, Lyon, Madrid, Mexico City, Montreal, New Taipei City, New York City, Rio de Janeiro, San Francisco Bay Area, São Paulo, Toronto, Vienna, Warsaw and Zurich.
This new feature will have more people utilising the environmentally friendly and affordable transportation of Dublin.
