Dublin Bus have announced a number of diversions will be in place this Sunday to facilitate the trial pedestrianisation of College Green.

Dublin City Council are trialling the pedestrianisation of the city centre area for the next three Sundays, starting this Sunday, July 21.

Dates for the trial were confirmed by Dublin City Council in June, following discussion of a potential trial earlier in the year.

Commenting on the project at the time it was announced, Dublin Chamber said: “[College Green] will be fully traffic free on Sunday 21 July, Sunday 28 July and Sunday 4 August.

“The idea of trialing College Green Plaza was put forward by Dublin Chamber late last year. We’re pleased to see the idea being brought to life.

[It] will provide a great chance for Dubliners to get in and experience what a full plaza will be like. Exciting for the city!”

From 7am until 7pm this Sunday, July 21, and again on July 28 and August 4, several Dublin Bus bus stops will be out of service as a result of the closure of College Green to traffic.

Several bus routes both Northbound and Southbound will be affected as part of the diversion. Routes affected include the 16, 140, 49, 14 and 40, and more.
