A planning application has been lodged for the long-awaited permanent building for Griffeen Community College, writes Kim O’Leary.
Since opening in 2017, the Lucan secondary school students have been housed at temporary accommodation at Kishoge Community College.
It is understood that a permanent building was planned for 2019 but was delayed due to planning and zoning issues in the area.
In January 2020, a proposal to move the students to Kingswood Community College in Tallaght was reversed by the Department after parents complained about the 7km move.
Last week, it was announced that a planning application has been submitted to South Dublin County Council for a permanent building for the school.
The plans for the new permanent site for the school will be located on the other side of the Outer Ring Road near Lucan East Educate Together National School.
