A 29-year-old man was today (Monday) charged with the murder of his girlfriend Jennie Poole in her Dublin apartment on Saturday.
Following the fatal stabbing of the 24-year-old mother of two on Saturday afternoon, Gavin Murphy (29) was arrested later that day by Gardai and appeared in Blanchardstown District Court today where he was remanded in custody to later this week.
Justice Gerard Jones remanded Mr Murphy in custody and he is due to appear next in Cloverhill District Court on Friday. Defence Solicitor Michael Hennessy told the court the accused was not working and applied for free legal aid on his behalf.
Justice Jones granted legal aid and also directed medical attention for the accused.
On Saturday Gardai responded to calls and arrived at Ms Poole’s apartment at 2pm where they found the deceased suffering from serious stab wounds.
Emergency services rushed her to James Connolly Hospital in nearby Blanchardstown where she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
