JAM Cards for people with hidden disabilities

by Rachel Cunningham

A “just a minute of patience” card or JAM Card allows people with a hidden disability or communication barrier to tell others that they need extra time and understanding in a private and easy way, writes Rachel Cunningham.

These cards are now available for collection free of charge at public counters in County Hall, Civic Offices Clondalkin and South Dublin libraries.

For those who prefer to use their phones, a JAM Card app works in the same way as the physical card but it also gives the user more great benefits. They can personalise messages and tell others as much or as little as is preferred about the reasons behind needing some extra time.

Cards can also be ordered by individuals from https://buff.ly/3yUk6Sw
